What is Tencel?
Tencel is the branded name for Lyocell - a semi-synthetic fibre created by dissolving wood pulp from sustainably-managed forests. Botanic in origin, this sustainably produced fibre is also completely biodegradable and compostable. Win, win!
Tencel production is done without the use of pesticides or insecticides and uses 80% less water than cotton. Tencel also has a closed loop production which involves reusing over 99% of the non-toxic solvent in the system therefore reducing the amount of wastewater.
